Spirituality

Spirituality is a path of self-improvement, of becoming whole. It can be experienced within or without the framework of a religion. But in any case it brings about the transformation of the individual, lifting the seeker up to a higher vibration, to a greater understanding of the Great Spirit that men have called God, that scientists call consciousness.

The spiritual path is not always easy. Obstacles get in the way. And those obstacles are quite universal irrespective of one's spiritual tradition and background. For example, every serious spiritual seeker will sooner or later have to deal with the ego or be impeded or even thrown back on their journey. The paths may be many, but the challenges and lessons are very similar for all of us. Therefore I have dedicated this page to some topics that may be of interest to genuine spiritual seekers and those who wish to improve themselves.

As the symbol for this page I have chosen the lotus flower and for good reason. It stands rooted in the earth, in the mud and often in dark waters. This represents the darker side of our personality, the material, and of course also our connection to the Earth and with it to the Divine Feminine, the Goddess energy. The lotus blossom is raised to the light and totally above the muck below. Often purple in colour, it represents the crown chakra -- also called the thousand petalled lotus -- and the apex of spiritual development. The lotus is a symbol of transcendence, of spirit over matter. Yet it never loses its roots in the earth. It is a symbol of perfect balance between earth and sky energies. When a drop of water falls on a lotus leaf it pearls off, leaving no trace, no taint. Science has tried to emulate this trait of the lotus, its self-cleansing properties. The lotus is seen by many as a symbol of spiritual purity.

It is my great hope that humanity will finally find the balance between earth and sky, and between the Divine Feminine and the Divine Male, the God and the Goddess energy. It is my hope that humanity will learn to enjoy the material world without shame yet without being materialistic, in full knowledge that the world of matter is nothing but an expression and reflection of Spirit.

And it is my hope that people will learn to connect to Spirit without losing their roots and becoming unbalanced, without spurning matter and the enjoyment that the physcial world can bring, and that humanity will learn to operate from an open heart chakra, from an understanding that all is one. My greatest hope is that we will all return to Oneness consciousness.

If a good number of people do this, enough to reach the "hundred monkey" effect, then humanity will make a quantum leap and we will enter into a Golden Age.
So let us all learn the lessons of the lotus!

Wishing you spiritual growth and peace,

Avalon
