The modern celebration of Easter is really the ancient pagan festival of Ostara, named after the Goddess Eostre, whose symbols were the hare and the egg, typical Pagan fertility symbols. Ostara marks the spring equinox, the halfway between the winter solstice, the longest night of the year and the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. At Ostara, the time of the spring equinox the day and night are in balance and of equal length. it is a time to celebrate the return of spring, a time when everything in nature grows and prospers, when birds and beasts mate and life and light returns after the long darkness and stillness of winter. It is a good time for new beginnings, for a house cleaning and consecration of tools.

Comment: Avalon, I believe I stumbled onto your site for a reason. I read your about me and found too many synchronisties to ignore. As a child, I remember a sad day when I realized magic wasn't real, and insurance agents were the best for quick fix. I found myself spiritually about a year ago, but it's still fresh. I feel i'm not seeing my inner destiny, and right now, I need help finding my light. I don't know, this is jumbled but i just feel like this is the first female i've found whose just as "out there" with beliefs and ideas about our past. During intense meditation I've i dont know...gone in this spiral downwards from my head through trees, and indian pow wows, and then Kali with her arms.
